We have built a web and sms integrated service that collates real-time bush fire data through crowd-sourcing and satellite imagery. We decided on a mobile responsive web site and sms notifications because accessibility to the service quickly is the key cornerstone to our solution. This entire solution is currently built on Node.js with plans to progress to a full native implementation on mobile phones as well as a more robust and responsive front end client for web. We are polling NASA's FTP servers for their satellite fire imagery every hour (the frequency they are updated). Based on the number of respondents and NASA's confidence level and the direction the fire is moving, we will decide how much of a threat the fire poses and be able to give early warning of a wildfire hazard
