Hello makers, designers and science enthusiasts! Welcome to NASA Space Apps Hackathon 2018 Pasadena, a three day event with presentations by industry professionals and 32 hours of hacking!
The event is open to everyone and there will be workshops and resources to help you build your projects. No prior programming experience is needed!
The opening ceremony will be held at the SupplyFrame DesignLab in Old Town at 4pm. We will have presentations from JPL, UCSF, and UCLA where you will learn about software and web development, team collaboration techniques, network hacking, and discover how technology and data are used in science.
The hackathon begins on Saturday at 10am in the Wifi Lounge at Pasadena City College. Teams will come together to build projects which tackle challenges designed by NASA and solve problems which impact people here on Earth and in space. You can join a team the day of the event or make one before and get started on your projects ahead of time. Two of the teams will go on to the national rounds of judging and their projects will be presented to NASA.
Last year Space Apps took place in over 69 countries with 28,000 participants making it the largest hackathon in the world!
The goal of this event is to promoting diversity, inclusion, and accessibility and to get students excited about Computer Science! We want to bring together and inspire people of all backgrounds to develop creative tools that solve society’s biggest issues.
