The people have spoken! This is the project that captured our hearts.

Welcome to the web page for the Space Apps 2018 Chicago event! We're still finalizing some details about the schedule and sponsorships, but feel free to start your registration now to ensure your participation at the event!

Venue

The Chicago location will be hosted at LaunchPad Labs, 220 W Huron St #2001, Chicago, IL 60654 . Further instructions on joining the venue will be posted in the coming weeks.

Schedule

The event begins at 9am Saturday morning and ends 5pm Sunday afternoon, at which time teams will have their projects reviewed and judged. Please see below for more detailed schedule.

Project Pages

Participants are responsible for their own project pages, provided by the Space Apps organization. External websites are encouraged. Projects nominated for global judging will have three days to post an explanatory video on their project page.

Judging and Awards

Three judges will select a winning project and a runner up from the Space Apps Challenge Event. In addition, an audience/participant poll will select a "People's Choice" project.

Remember the following:

  • Laptops and computers will not be provided. A podium with computer will be provided for pitching projects at the end of the event.

Schedule (All times US/Central)

Saturday, October 20th
  1. Check in begins at LaunchPad Labs: 220 West Huron Street, Chicago, IL 60654, USA space. Bring your laptop! (Please be sure to check in before 10am!)

  2. Get familiar with the space, introduce yourself to other participants as they arrive, and start brainstorming potential solutions ot the Space Apps Challenges!

  3. Opening Remarks, Challenge briefing, and an overview of how to create and work with the Space Apps Participant Pages and other resources.

  4. Lunch break! You are encouraged to eat lunch with your team

  5. Progress briefing! Time to check in on everyone's progress and see what everyone else is working on.

  6. Wrap up for the LaunchPad Labs space (You can certainly keep working past this time, but must find an alternative space for the rest of the night; suggestions will be provided)

Sunday, October 21st
  1. Doors open at LaunchPad Labs at this time (Confer with your team ahead of time when people should show up at the space to avoid confusion)

  2. Submissions Deadline; prepare for team presentations

  3. Following team presentations, judges will vote and announce their selection. Afterwards, the 'People's Choice' project will be selected.

  4. Awards, group picture, and wrap-up!
