Space Apps Challenge 2018

1. Explanation

We are building an application called “SpotFire” that uses crowdsourcing idea to monitor fires, creating alerts and help peoples to prevent and fighting fires. The principal focus is to be used by institutes and people who live in risk areas.

In this way, we notice around the world, a lot of disasters that destroys people’s lifes and their objects, that can happen with who lives in areas of risk and areas that we did not expected before. According with the jornal O Globo, in Lisboa (Portugal) a fire caused the death of 62 people who lived in the rural are. This lost would not happen if the population could be alerted as soon as possible. Another example is the lost of important datas and cultural’s collections like happened in Brazil (2018) with the fire in the Museu Nacional located in Rio de Janeiro, who destroyed about 20 millions of estates. We can help in the fire prevent analysing some data, like fire historic by a place and reports from people.

It was used FIRMS’s data and denunciations of people to create a near-real-time fire map more efficient than others, that can show fire points about one of three cases: Current Alerts, Most Occurrence Of Fire and Fire Risks. The people’s help is fundamental to this because they can create an alert to fires next to somewhere. The alerts, like the denunciations, can be made by our app, text message or social network, reaching more people. They also can read tips of prevention and fighting fires.

3.1 Figures of the application:

To better explain how it going to works, we made a list with 4 figures of what you have done. The figure 1 shows the application’s icon, representing the logo of project and our slogan: “Report, receive alerts and monitor fires!”. As the program loads, we can see the figure 2 what represents the area who people can warning about fires incidences, in this case reporting.

The figure 3, asks the user’s datas to receive fire alerts. The last one, figure 4 corresponds to tips containing how to prevent yourself, including analysis of inspection and historic of risk areas, besides fire detection, emergency scape and fire fighting.
