Background
Wildfires are mainly caused by human mistakes about 90% of them. From January 1 to October 12, 2018, there were 49,658 wildfires in the U.S. According to a study in the University of Tasmania by fay Johnston about 339,000 fatalities are caused annually by wildfires and their consequences of massive pollutants, influencing weather, climate and air purity and quality.
This significant number of deaths is due to the late discovery of wildfires and the hardness of putting them out after they spread to thousands of Acres.
The solution:
Our solution will reduce disasters in the future as it contains sensors with high sensitivity that will warn people from the fire faster and within approximately no time. The early detection of fire will lead the people to escape from that fire, decreasing the number of fatalities and summoning the firemen earlier than before to handle the situation. This device will contribute in the future to saving lots of lives due to its efficiency and quicker detection of fire.
The resources:
The technology used is similar to the IOT technology where we used flame sensors to detect the fire then through pushbullet service of sending SMS and pushing box which is a cloud that can send notification, emails, tweets based on API calls in real time. we can create an access token from pushbullet and add it in pushingbox.com then we can send notifications to the phone using the send of notification from pushingbox.com to pushbullet account which connected to phone.
The challenges:
The challenges that we faced during assembling our solution were: getting the high sensitivity sensors that will contribute to the early detection of fire, decreasing the time interval for sending the notification to people, and also the efficient technology used to speed up the process of warning people and calling the firemen immediately.
