Space Apps Challenge 2018

Fireport is a wildfire reporting, tracking, visualization and notification system.

From the user perspective there are web and mobile apps where you can:

• report wildfires;
• subscribe for a fire alarm notifications in your or any custom location;
• track fires worldwide on the real-time map. The data comes from user reports and NASA FIRMS.

Internally our system is based on a data server running Elasticsearch and Kibana to process and visualize data respectively, and an app server which is the back-end for web and mobile apps.

There were many other features in our minds which we didn’t have time to implement:

• fire detection on a single image - partially implemented (accuracy 76%);
• social network feed parsing to detect wildfire events (filter by “fire” related keywords, hashtags, date; detect fire on attached image);
• telegram bot for fire reporting;
• fire spread prediction using wind, surface, vegetation (forest areas), temperature data.
