Build a crowdsourcing tool for citizens to contribute to early detection, verification, tracking, visualization, and notification of wildfires.
FireWatchers
We developed a concept webapp to visualize data on ongoing fires around the globe. Markers on a map show the location of the latest reports, coming both from the nasa satellites and user submissions, which can be sent by anybody in a few seconds.
As of right now, there are 4 different code snippets ready. They show how the main functions work and that the project could be carried out to completion. We have stripped away the database section of the webapp, but we have worked on it nonetheless.
