Fire Path
Developing a platform for volunteer fire reporting, report validation and fire awareness.
Our project consisted of development of an ios and web app (both sharing a Firebase backend) showing a live feed of active fires detected from satellites and allowing user submitted reports of wildfires which are also displayed. Additionally our team hand built a dataset of images of wildfires and other relevant fire classes in order to train a Tensorflow model using the Google designed MobileNet architecture.
The models we developed had the capacity to distinguish between wildfires, controlled fires (bonfires, lit fireplaces, candles, rocket launches), and non burning objects which by itself was a useful discovery.
