The Challenge | Don’t Forget the Can Opener!

Create an easy-to-use way for people to develop their own, custom checklists – both items and plans – for specific kinds of disasters. Use NASA images, videos, or data visualizations to illustrate each disaster type, to help people understand how to prepare.

Earthquake Prediction using GPR

Techno Tectonics

We are Techno Tectonics. Our 5 members are Akib Sarwar, Sayed Ahmed, Ashraful Haque Sulaiman, Shushmita Barua, Muntakim Mostafa Monon. Here is the Description of our Project. Each year many fatal earthquakes take place. Hundreds of people die and properties worth of billions of dollars get damaged. What if we can predict this natural disaster? It will be easy to take precautions decreasing the damage of property and possibly decreasing the death toll to zero. Nothing is impossible in science. By using the GPR technology, we can navigate the major tectonic plates and predict when and where they might collide. To establish this relation, we have to take a reference frame and find out the coordinates of the positions of the tectonic plates. From the coordinates we can find out the distance that the plate passed during the time interval. By this one at a time we will be able to navigate all of the major tectonic plates and by sorting them into one software it is possible to know when they are going to collide with each other causing a fatal earthquake. Once we know when it is going to happen it is not very hard to evacuate the area and save the lives of hundreds of people.
