ABOUT EARTHQUAKES

What is an Earthquake?

The Earthquakes are shakes that happened on earth surface that can be triggered by natural causes (as landslides, Vulcan eruptions, tectonism…) or human ones (as mining operations, explosives blasts, dam rupture…)

Why do earthquakes happen?

Our planet is formed of 4 basic layers, a thin a solid layer named crust, an almost solid layer named mantle, a liquid outer core and an extreme heavy and hot core composed by solid metals.

Where an earthquake begins is called epicenter. However, the vibrations caused by an earthquake can be felt miles away from its epicenter.

The incoming quakes from tectonic movement are considered the ones with biggest range radius in terms of force and intensity. When the epicenter is located under the sea, it can dislocate large amounts of water which may cause other natural disaster called Tsunami.

What to do in case of an earthquake?

As we yet cannot efficientlyprevent when an earthquake will strike it is important that if you live in a risk area you always have an emergency plan and a go-bag for possible evacuations. However, the quakes seem to be the real problem during an earth quake the real problem are the debris that fall from different sources such as buildings and structures nearby.
