Space Apps Challenge 2018

The name of the project:

Gaia. We were inspired by the goddess of motherhood, reborn and fertility in the Greek
mythology.
-Our goal:
Each year, thousands of people die in natural disaster due to the lack of knowledge they
have about the unfortunate event. We want to provide them with an easy-to-use mobile
application “Gaia” to prevent losing more lives.
-Description:
Gaia is a personal voice activated crisis prevention and management assistant. She helps the
user to prepare for and survive natural disasters. At first, Gaia will ask the user about his
special needs like medicines, phobias, allergies… She then provides him with a list of
disasters ordered by the likelihood of each one, Gaia will be using NASA Data and Google API
to predict it. Each disaster contains a description, special items, tips, a surviving plan, an
automatically generated checklist and myth busters to clarify misconceptions. The user is
capable of adding more events or items to his checklist. Gaia will also use amazon and E-bay
APIs to suggest the best deal for each item. We believe in order to survive such a horrible
event, victims must maintain a positive mental health. That is why our Gaia will provide
some stress relief techniques like Team-buildings, conversation starters, white noises to
calm the victim’s nerves and also a memories section. For the last section. The user stores
valuable images, audio or videos for loved ones, childhood memories… that can be lost in a
tragedy. The user can also record a “ word for humanity” to be stored in our servers and can
be publicly accessible before and after the tragedy to boost others hope. Our Gaia will be
using NASA Data and Google API to predict the likelihood of
In case of a disaster, Gaia will activate the emergency mode by the user’s voice or by simply
clicking the emergency button. Consequently , an automatic cautions will be given by Gaia
assistant to relax the user and to make him more secure .Adding to that all unnecessary apps
and processes in your phone will be disabled to help maximize your battery life , beside that
it allows you to make emergency phone calls directly from the app to make a quick and a
highly efficient intervention .
Future Plans:
We believe Gaia should be in every smartphone. That is why many features will be added in
the future:
-Gaia will notify users about nearby disasters or recently occurred ones, in order to enhance
the global generosity of mankind and to unify efforts to ease the after math of the disaster,
thus Gaia will guide users to charitable work and donation systems.
- In case of an emeregency Gaia will guide the user, through its Geolocation systeme to the
nearst groupe of people in order to join forces.
