From 2017 to 2018, Junior Achievement found a significant drop in teenaged boys who want a STEM career, down from 36 percent to 24 percent. And the low level of interest among teenaged girls remained unchanged at 11 percent year-over-year." (The Hour, 2018). Amongst young people today, it is a large misconception that going into a STEM field only involves examinations and immense stress, however this could not be further from the truth. Our team's goal is to reignite the passion for STEM fields that children once possessed and develop it further into an enjoyable learning experience without the worry of exams.
The games uses a side-scrolling interface to guide Alex through different galaxies as he searches for a habitable planet to settle in. As Alex explores the new planets, children will be able to learn about the importance of factors such as atmosphere, temperature, gravitational field strength, state of matter etc... With the image of this game we hope that statistics concerning involvement of children in STEM will once again increase. However more importantly we hope to have a positive impact on the presentation of physics and science in general to children.
