Our
goal was to make predictions based on the data from the Bio-Monitor
competition. We developed an algorithm identifying passive and active
behaviour based on heart rate data. Due to the constraints of space,
astronauts have a sedentary lifestyle associated with many health
complications like high blood pressure and bone degradation. The
algorithm would identify daily activities with an ‘active’ health
signature and suggest them in the future. For example, it would suggest
other astronauts to ‘visit Chris Hadfield in the Canadian pod’ rather
than ‘run on the treadmill for 5 minutes’. This will both promote
cardiac health and camaraderie within the ISS.
