FireAware

Fire Incident Reporting and Notification App

_Mighty Morphin Fire Rangers_

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THERE IS A FIRE IN THE PHILIPPINES?

People start panicking. Most of them will try to save their own stuff first, but there is someone who does the right thing and calls the fire department. There are cases when the call will not push through though, due to factors such as low cell signal reception among others, thus adding to the delay in the fire dept's response. If only there is another faster way to notify the fire dept...

HERE COMES FIREAWARE. BUT WHAT IS IT, REALLY?

FireAware is a fire incident reporting and notification web app that leverages the use of crowdsourcing to report fire incidents within the community. With it, we aim to improve the response time to fire incidents by speeding up the reporting process.

System Overview

Through the app, mobile users can send fire reports (with location information and photo attachments) to our cloud service. These reports are received by the fire department, who can also verify if the report is true or just a scam. Verified reports are broadcasted to the mobile users to keep them in-the-know of ongoing fire incidents. We are also planning to add a feature where the broadcast service sends SMS notifications to registered LGU contact numbers.

In terms of implementation, we have a lot of tech to choose from. But we've decided to begin with Angular JS using Material library for the UI and Google Firebase for the cloud storage service. In the future, we are looking forward to integrate the usage of Arduino's GSM module for the broadcast SMS feature.
