The Challenge | Design by Nature

Design an autonomous free-flyer to inspect a spacecraft for damage from Micro-Meteoroid and Orbital Debris (MMOD).

Astro-Robot

Our category is can you build a design by nature and our solution is to build a free-flying robot turning around the space craft in a fixed orbit using radar sensor that transmits electromagnetic waves to the space craft which reflects these waves back to

space explorers

Challenge Faces:

MMODs are a big problem to the space crafts as it could make a damage which will affect on the success of the mission, so our challenge is:

Design An Autonomous Free –Flyer To Inspect A Space Craft For Damage From Micro-meteoroids And Orbital Debris(MMODs)

Background:

when a MMOD hits the space craft it could at least make the mission a big failure and the space craft would be lost with all of its exploration, tests and researches and millions of dollars will be lost, so we thought of a way that would help us discover those MMODs damages by using an electromagnetic wave that hit the damage then we discover the location and the depth of this damage by using a free flying robot that will frequently rotate around the space craft, transmit and receive those electromagnetic waves.
