The Challenge | Design by Nature

Design an autonomous free-flyer to inspect a spacecraft for damage from Micro-Meteoroid and Orbital Debris (MMOD).

M.A.D.I. (Multiple Agents Detecting Impacts)

M.A.D.I. system is based on autonomous free-flyers without collision avoindance, it uses RFID technology to detect damage on spacecrafts produced by Micro-Meteoroid and Orbital Debris

PROYECT SUMARY:

MOTIVATION:

Our main porpuse is designing an autonomous free-flyer to look for damage on spacesrafts produced by Micro-Meteoroid and Orbital Debris.

m.a.d.i. : rfid based solution

We consider that spacecraft is envolved by RFID tags, so when a Micro-Meteoroid or Orbital Debris hit the spacecraft, the collision will cause damage and disable the correspondent RFID tag on the impact point. Our free-flyers will continuously look for damage, they will make spacecraft inspection using collective behaviours algorithms that has biological inspiration.
