The Challenge | Health Makes Wealth

Integrate NASA Earth science data and citizen science data to learn more about the connections between human, animal, and environmental health.

Air Pollution Forecast Using AI

Before solving a problem we should become aware of it. Imagine if you can forecast Air Pollution and actually do something about it! Well, we kind of did that by using Machine Learning with almost 6 years historical data!

PM 10/10

The challenge we decided to go for is ‘Health Makes Wealth’ and we tackle this challenge by providing Air Pollution Prediction.

The idea is to create a model that based on historical data, using artificial intelligence, can predict future levels of pollution.

Our goal is to provide a platform that offers the prediction data, which in turn is used by applications from various domains.

The target groups for these applications range from average consumers, through companies, up to governments.

That being said, we created 2 demo applications to show how diverse these applications can be, using the same data.

Average Consumer Application

The first one is a mobile application targeted for the average consumer.

While it provides an interface that shows the current level of pollution, it also has a module that displays the levels of pollution for the following week.

This can be integrated as part of a bigger system that tracks the consumer’s health, giving personalized suggestions for the following week based on the predicted data.

Higher Management Application

The second one is a web application targeted for the higher management department of a company that promotes renewable sources of energy, say Tesla for example.

For a given country, it provides an interface that shows the historical trend of pollution and the predicted pollution levels for the following season.

Having this data, higher management can make decisions whether or not to expand their market in the given area.
