The Challenge | Spot That Fire!

Build a crowdsourcing tool for citizens to contribute to early detection, verification, tracking, visualization, and notification of wildfires.

BHUVA | fear not! BHUVA is what we've got!

A platform that harvests data from locals' sensors and our manufactured bug-like robots, supporting real-time and location data quality to detect and reduce wildfire damages.


Problem definition:

Wildfire has affected our ecosystem more than we've anticipated. Yearly, thousands acres of woods, forests and homes had been combusted vigorously due to the inaccurate satellite data fire detecting methods which requires 3-4 hours. This has raised numerus of health concerns as it exhorts tons of Co2 affecting locals hundred miles away.

Our solution:

We've designed a platform to harvest data from locals' sensors and our provided bug-like robots to measure the environments current temperature and notify/alarm nearby locals and fire departments to take caution and apply the required procedures.


  • Safty: utilize locals' sensors in detection and verification instead of using human resources.
  • Speed: decreasing time frame of detection and verification from hours to minutes
  • Usability: simple enough to be used by locals

The disparity of our bug-like robots will be based on data collected from NASA FIRMS.
